You might have more to leave future generations
than simply land and vines and brands.

Sustain values from one generation to the next.

“For a leader in any area, Gerald Sindell has the unique ability to bring your ideas to life.
“Gerald, as both a filmmaker and publisher, is an extraordinary guide, getting to the essence of the unique vision each of his clients have for the world. A deep thinker by nature, he continually challenged me to distill my ideas down to their most salient kernels, and along the way. he helped me find my voice. With generosity, optimism, and humor, Gerald offered broad knowledge and expertise to help me bring my vision for architecture to the world. “

What’s a Movie Memoir? You’ve probably already thought about writing your memoir, or having someone ghost it for you. But the reality is, the next generation is more likely to understand your story if it’s a movie. Books tend to stay on shelves. Movies have the ability to tell your story in a way that will delight the generations to come.

‘It’s time for the kids to watch Grandma and Grandpa tell their story.”

What are the steps for a Movie Memoir?

Through regular and intense free-form sessions, Gerald will lead you to discover the essence of what has made your experiences and insights unique. Sindell is particularly gifted in discovering and organizing the ideas and concepts that are your story. He’ll start by jotting important moments in your history onto 3 X 5 cards, and eventually sorting them into large groupings, called ‘Acts.” Once the structure is complete, you and Gerald (or Gerald by himself) will write a script. All available movies, videos, and other images will be incorporated into the script. Then, we will shoot the movie, using a lean but professional crew, with you and/or other key people delivering their parts. Scenes will be shot in wide-screen and high-definition in various locations around your property and home. Finally, the film will be edited into a 60 or 90 minute movie, music will be added as appropriate, and revisions will be made until you have decided that we’ve been successful in capturing your legacy for the future in an entertaining and dramatic way.

How long before the premiere?

Let’s just say that, like a good wine, you don’t want to rush it. From start to finish, a year is probably a pretty good rough time budget. The variables will be how much time you have to devote to the early stages and how many special (for instance, seasonal) scenes we decide to capture.

What does Quentin Tarantino think of Sindell as a filmmaker?

“I fucking loved your movie!,” was Tarantino’s reaction when he screened one of Sindell’s feature films, The Real Thing, (renamed Teenager), written, directed and produced by Sindell. For Sindell’s film listings, please see Motion Pictures.

Can I still have my book?

Of course. And having gone through the scripting and structuring process, your book will tell a better story because of it. We can also create various versions of the book — for the family and future generations, and other versions for sale at the winery and for special gifts or sales for your wine club members.
